The 2023 Vouvray Sec Le Mont is precise, flinty, and tightly structured, with just enough peachy juiciness to hint at its potential. Light-bodied yet concentrated, it offers aromas of quince, pineapple, lemon, limestone, dried flowers, orange peel, and beeswax. On the palate, it is bright, full-bodied, and elegant, with a refined mineral character, vibrant acidity, and a long, complex finish. Less expressive than Le Haut-Lieu at this stage, Le Mont is built for aging and promises to shine with time. 95 pts., Vinous 93 pts., John Gilman Domaine Huët, a benchmark in Vouvray and a global Chenin Blanc icon, has farmed its 35 hectares biodynamically since 1990. Founded in 1928, its three vineyards—Le Mont, Le Haut-Lieu, and Le Clos du Bourg—produce wines renowned for their quality and age-worthiness. Le Mont—For many insiders, the argument over Vouvray’s greatest vineyard comes down to two sites: Le Mont and Clos du Bourg. Undisputedly a grand cru vineyard, Le Mont enjoys a choice site on the Première Côte. With less clay and more stone than Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont yields young wines of intense minerality. With age, the wines develop great length and finesse.
